What a useful expenditure listing looks like

Many municipalities publish expenditure listings with four columns: date, vendor, amount and cheque number. That confirms a payment was made, but it doesn't tell a resident what the money was for.

Adding a short purpose or description column — 'culvert replacement, Road 142N' rather than a bare vendor name — costs very little and answers most residents' questions before they're asked. Several neighbouring municipalities already do this.

I'd like Roblin to publish that level of detail as a matter of routine, alongside budgets, capital plans and major contracts in one place online.
